Mike Bourne

Mike Bourne is a Senior Economist at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs since May 2017, where responsibilities include heading trade modeling. Previous experience includes roles as an Economic Adviser and Senior Economist at the Department for Communities and Local Government, and as an Economist-Research Assistant at Gobierno de Aragón, focusing on CGE modeling to evaluate the impact of the financial crisis on Spanish agriculture. Bourne's career began with economic analysis during a sandwich placement at Defra, and other positions include a Visiting Research Fellow at Oxford Brookes University and community engagement roles at the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Cathedral. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Economics and a Master's in Economic Research from Universidad de Zaragoza, as well as a degree in Economics from The University of Sheffield.
