Nehal Depani

Nehal Depani is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in environmental policy and public law. Currently serving as the Deputy Head of Air Quality, Industrial Emissions, Noise and Nuclear Division at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs since July 2021, Nehal plays a critical role in shaping air quality legislation and strategies. Previous roles include Head of Parliamentary, Legal & Regulations Strategy for the Covid-19 Task Force at the Cabinet Office and Head of Air Quality Civil Emissions, where Nehal spearheaded initiatives related to domestic combustion and transport emissions. With a background in both public service and legal practice, Nehal has held various positions in notable organizations, including the House of Commons and Herbert Smith Freehills, where expertise in public law, environmental issues, and strategic policy development was established. Nehal holds a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of Cambridge, a Master's degree in Public Policy and Management from Birkbeck, University of London, and completed legal training at BPP Law School.
