Nick Howard is a Specialist Senior Accountant and Head of the State Aid Unit at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), responsible for all matters related to Subsidy Control and State Aid. Since 2017, Nick has provided specialized support on EU State Aid Law, ensuring compliance and advising public authorities on state aid matters. Prior to this role, Nick served as a Specialist Senior Management Accountant at the Environment Agency, managing grant compliance and financial monitoring for various funding programs. Nick holds a BSc in Ocean Science from the University of Plymouth and is currently pursuing a postgraduate diploma in Economics for Competition Law at King's College London.
