Richard Ferris is an experienced environmental professional with extensive expertise in biodiversity, community engagement, and ecological management. Currently serving as Science Lead for Trees & Woodland and Thematic Lead for Citizen Science at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Richard has held various leadership roles at Defra and across multiple organizations, including managing community engagement initiatives and directing ecological consulting efforts. With a PhD in Agroecology and a strong background in research, policy advice, and program management, Richard has contributed significantly to strategic biodiversity initiatives, partnerships, and community-focused environmental projects throughout a career spanning over three decades.
