Regional Landscape Advisor

Samuel Leigh is a Regional Landscape Advisor at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs since May 2024. Previously, Samuel served as the Nature Integration Lead at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office from December 2019 to May 2024 and held various roles at Defra, including Senior Scientific Officer and Policy Advisor. Samuel has extensive academic experience as a PhD Student at the University of Reading, focusing on agro-ecology, along with teaching roles, such as Sessional Lecturer for a course on Quantitative Analysis of Environmental Data. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Agro-ecology from the University of Reading, an MSc (Distinction) in Ecology from the University of East Anglia, and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Zoology/Animal Biology from The University of Edinburgh.
