In 2001, they also founded Defy and served in the roles of Founder + Chief Creative Officer and President + Chief Creative Officer. In their role at Defy, Nik used a holistic business approach that is service-minded, offering expertise in Application Development, Art Direction, Branding, Catalog Design, Content Creation, Creative Direction, Editorial Design, Marketing Strategy, Product and Apparel Design, Social Media Strategy, Website Design and Development. Nikolas applied marketing and branding creativity repeatedly to enhance global, iconic brands, such as Burton Snowboards, where they increased sales more than 50%.
