Randy Chan's work experience begins in 2003 when they started working as a Signal Operator in the Canadian Forces. Randy continued in this role until 2008. From 2007 to 2008, they worked as a Computer Technician at Future Shop. In 2010, they joined STARS Air Rescue first as an Information Management Intern and then as a Helpdesk and Process Analyst. From 2012 to 2013, they worked as a User Experience Designer at Online Business Systems. In 2013, they joined Hitachi Solutions Canada as a User Experience Architect, Team Lead, and Front-End Developer. Randy held this role until 2019 and during this time, they worked with various clients and served as a UX and Front-End Design Team Lead. From 2019 to 2023, they worked at Hitachi Solutions, Ltd. as a Lead Engineer. In this role, they designed and drove technical direction for IoT, data analytics, and cloud solutions. Randy also managed offshore engineering teams and acted as a liaison between technical and non-technical business teams. Their most recent work experience is as an Engineering Manager at KOMOJU by Degica since 2023.

Randy Chan's education history includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Calgary, which they obtained from 2005 to 2012. Additionally, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in East Asian Language Studies with a concentration in Japanese from the same university, studying from 2007 to 2011. During their academic journey, Randy also participated in an exchange/research program at Hokkaido University of Education in 2008 and a short-term exchange program at Senshu University in the same year. These experiences provided him with international exposure and opportunities for cultural enrichment.

Apart from their formal education, Randy has acquired various Microsoft certifications. Randy became a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCPS) in June 2016 and attained the Microsoft Devices & Cloud IoT Bootcamp certification from Hackster.io in March 2017. Recently, in July 2022, Randy obtained certifications as a Microsoft Power Platform Developer and a Microsoft Power Platform Functional Consultant from Microsoft itself.
