Jaco Nel

Jaco Nel has over 13 years of work experience. Jaco started their career as a Software Engineer at Ambition 24 Hours, where they developed a medical recruitment platform. Jaco then worked as a Development Project Manager at Liquid Edge Solutions, leading various short to mid-term projects. At Ambition24Hours, they served as a Software Engineer Team Lead, leading a team responsible for system architecture and tooling.

Following that, Jaco joined Takealot, South Africa's largest e-commerce site, as a Software Engineer, focusing on porting the codebase to separate, python-based restful services. Jaco then joined RightShift as a Software Engineer, where they applied gamification to online slot machines.

In 2015, they joined Konga Online Shopping Ltd as a Software Engineer, specializing in Service Oriented Architecture and helping establish coding standards and refine the code review process. Jaco also served as a Software Architect, focusing on the design and development of service-oriented systems. Ultimately, they became the Lead Software Architect, managing a multicultural, multi-regional team.

In 2017, Jaco joined iflix as a Software Engineer, responsible for the payment and subscription infrastructure. Jaco later became the Head of Engineering for South Africa, leading a team of engineers and providing strategic and technical direction.
