Umar Jakoet

Umar Jakoet has over 15 years of work experience in the software development field. Umar is currently working as a Principal Software Engineer at Deimos since October 2021. Previously, they held the position of Principal Software Development Engineer at NTT Ltd. from November 2018 to October 2021. Prior to that, Umar served as the Head of Technology at Arc South Africa from September 2017 to November 2018. Umar also worked at Konga Online Shopping Ltd as a Software Architect from June 2017 to September 2017, as a Software Dev Manager from February 2016 to June 2017, and as a Software Engineer from January 2015 to February 2016. Umar founded and served as Lead Developer at Bankai Dev from November 2013 to January 2015. Umar was also employed as the Head of Development at OgilvyOne Worldwide (CT) from April 2010 to November 2013. Additionally, they worked as a Senior Flash Developer at 24.com Spacepatrolcar from 2009 to 2010, a Flash Developer at Stonewall from 2008 to 2009, and a PHP Developer at White Wall Web from August 2006 to August 2008. Throughout their career, Umar has gained expertise in various software development roles, showcasing their extensive knowledge and experience in the field.

Umar Jakoet completed their secondary education at Harold Cressy High School from 1996 to 2000. Umar then pursued a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at the University of Cape Town, specializing in Information Technology, from 2001 to 2005.

In addition to their formal education, Umar has also obtained certifications in the field of Agile and DevOps. In August 2019, they became a Certified SAFe 4 DevOps Practitioner through Scaled Agile, Inc. Prior to that, in December 2018, they obtained the certification of Certified SAFe 4 Agilist from the same institution.
