John Bates

John Bates is a principal in the international tax group of Deloitte Tax LLP's Washington National Tax office, where they advise clients on international tax matters with a focus on cross-border planning and transactional issues. Additionally, John is an adjunct professor of law at Georgetown University Law Center and speaks and publishes regularly on international tax topics. They previously served as a partner at Baker & Hostetler LLP and were the international tax team leader at a national law firm. John holds an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center, a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, and a B.A. in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Virginia.
