Fernand Rutten is the Middle East Tax COO and Customs and Global Trade Advisory Leader at Deloitte, based in the United Arab Emirates. With over 30 years of experience in indirect tax, Fernand previously served as a customs official with the Dutch customs authorities before transitioning to a global trade advisory consultant approximately 24 years ago. Fernand became the Global Leader for Global Trade Advisory at Deloitte in May 2010 and has lectured at both the University of Leiden and the University of Antwerp. Additionally, Fernand has authored several books and articles on global trade advisory matters.
