John Bates

John Bates is a principal in the international tax group of Deloitte Tax LLP's Washington National Tax office, where they advise clients on international tax matters with a focus on cross-border planning and transactional issues. Currently serving as an adjunct professor of law at Georgetown University Law Center, John also speaks and publishes regularly on international tax topics. Previously, John was a partner and international tax team leader at Baker & Hostetler LLP and has held positions at Ivins, Phillips & Barker and the U.S. House of Representatives. John earned a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center.
