Matthias Schmidt is a Partner in Sustainability Assurance at Deloitte’s Center of Expertise, a position held since 2024. Matthias previously served as Director of Sustainability Assurance at Deloitte from 2022 to 2024 and was a Senior Manager in the same field from 2019 to 2022. Prior to their tenure at Deloitte, Matthias was Head of ESG and Technical Manager in Accounting & Auditing at the Institut der Wirtschaftsprüfer in Deutschland e.V. from 2012 to 2019, and they led the German chapter of the International Integrated Reporting Council from 2013 to 2016. Matthias earned a Diplom-Kaufmann in Business Administration from Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster in 2007 and conducted doctoral research there from 2007 to 2011.
