John Kaplin's work experience began in 1983 as an Exploration Geologist for Minatome and USGS, where they conducted exploration for uranium and precious metals in the Western U.S. John then worked as a Senior Geologist for EBASCO Services from 1987 to 1990 and for Stone & Webster from 1990 to 1992. In 1992, they joined the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority as a Construction Manager until 2000. From 2000 to 2013, they served as a Resident Engineer, Project Executive, and Director at Gilbane Building Company, focusing on tunnel and renewable energy projects. Since 2013, they have been working at Delve Underground, initially as the Director of Construction Management and currently as the California Regional Manager and a member of the Board of Directors.
John Kaplin completed their Bachelor's degree in Geology from Colorado State University between 1979 and 1983. John then pursued a Master's degree in Engineering Geology from the same university, which they obtained between 1985 and 1987. In terms of certifications, John became a Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG) from CA in the year 2020. John also obtained the certification of Professional Geologist (PG) from CA BPELS in 2019. Additionally, John is a Certified Construction Manager, which they received from the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) in December 2015.
