Bert Backaert

Bert Backaert is currently the Department Manager of Fleet MMM, overseeing Major Repairs, Mobilisations, and Modifications at DEME Group since 2021. Previously, they served as Department Manager of Mobilisations & Mission Equipment and Technical Manager for DEME Offshore from 2018 to 2020. Bert held various technical superintendent roles at both DEME and GeoSea, focusing on the maintenance and repairs of offshore vessels. They also worked as a Project Manager for Exmar from 2013 to 2018, where they supported the development of LNG projects. Bert earned a Master of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Universiteit Gent.
