Ellen Looijen has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Ellen began their career at Garden Hotel Restaurant in 1988, initially working as a receptionist and eventually transitioning to the reservations department. In 1994, they joined Hotel Mercure aan de Amstel as a Sales Assistant, where they handled administrative tasks, organized events, and provided monthly turnover figures. Since 2009, Ellen has been working at Deoleo S.A. (now known as deOleo Nederland BV), initially as an Office, Sales, and Customer Service Agent. Their role involved managing incoming orders, maintaining daily contact with distributors and the sales office, and handling customer inquiries. Over time, their responsibilities expanded to include financial controlling and invoice processing.

Ellen Looijen began their education in 1976 at Middelbare School Jeanne D'Arc Maastricht, where they completed the HAVO program. Ellen then attended Institute Schoevers at Nijmegen from 1982 to 1983, where they obtained a diploma in receptionist training with a focus on information. Prior to their time at Institute Schoevers, Ellen had also pursued the HAVO program in Maastricht and earned a diploma.
