Ed Smith

Ed Smith is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in materials engineering and management. Currently serving as Director at Deringer-Ney Inc. since October 2021, Ed previously held the position of Vice President of R&D at the same company from January 2002 to July 2020. Ed's leadership experience includes roles such as Conference Chairman for the IEEE Holm Conference on Electrical Contacts from 1995 to 1996 and Technical Program Chairman in 2000-2001, along with receiving The Armington Recognition Award in 1997 for outstanding service. Ed served on the Board of Directors for the North American Manufacturing Research Institution of SME from 2014 to 2017 and held various leadership positions in R&D at J M Ney and Olin Corporation prior to 2002. Ed holds a PhD and BS in Materials Engineering and an MS in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and its Lally School of Management.
