Dr. Nick Kioupis has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Dr. NICK started their career in 1991 with the Hellenic Air Force, where they served as a researcher in the fields of electrochemistry, corrosion, and materials failures in collaboration with the Research Institute of Chemical Engineering. From 1993 to 1995, they continued their research as a Postgraduate Student and Researcher at the University of Patras, focusing on electrochemistry, corrosion, and materials failures.
In 1995, Dr. Kioupis joined DEPA S.A. as a Cathodic Protection Engineer, later becoming the Cathodic Protection Dept Manager, overseeing Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) matters. Dr. NICK worked there until 2007. At the same time, from 2002 to 2007, they also served as the Cathodic Protection Dept Manager at DEPA S.A.
In 2007, Dr. Kioupis joined DESFA SA as the Section Head of the Pipeline Integrity and Protection Department, a role they held until 2009. Dr. NICK then became the Cathodic & Lightning Protection Section Head until 2014. From 2014 to 2017, they served as the Cathodic & Lightning Protection Section Head at the Technical Support Directorate. Following that, they were the Inspection Section Head from 2017 until 2021, when they were promoted to the position of Processes & Equipment Inspection Section Head.
In addition to their work at DEPA SA and DESFA SA, Dr. Kioupis has also worked as a National Expert at CEN and CENELEC since 2008 and at ISO - International Organization for Standardization since the same year.
Throughout their career, Dr. Nick Kioupis has shown expertise in various aspects of corrosion, electrochemistry, materials failures, and HSEQ matters, along with leadership and managerial skills.
Dr. Nick Kioupis obtained a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 2009. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies from 1986 to 1991 at the Ethnikon kai Kapodistriakon Panepistimion Athinon, where they earned a BSc in Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry.
