Randy LaBonte has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Randy has held various roles in different organizations.
Starting in 1993, Randy worked as the Director of Professional Development at the BC Principals' & Vice Principals' Association until 1997. Randy then became the Executive Director of the BC Youth Police Network in 1999, before transitioning to the role of Director of Marketing & Sales at Odyssey Learning Systems from 2000 to 2007.
In 2005, Randy joined the BC Ministry of Education as a Consultant until 2010. Concurrently, from 2008 to 2017, they operated the Cherry Point Place Vacation Resort BnB.
From 2009 to 2016, Randy also worked as a Consultant for eCampusAlberta, specializing in online education. Additionally, they served as a Consultant for Knowplace from 2010 to 2019, managing online training and providing conference planning leadership.
Randy's career also includes roles as the President of Destiny Education Consulting Ltd. since 1997 and as an Adjunct Professor and Instructor at Vancouver Island University since 2011, where they were involved in their Online Learning and Teaching Diploma program.
Since 2014, Randy has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian eLearning Network (CANeLearn), a not-for-profit society dedicated to promoting student success in online and blended learning, providing networking, collaboration, and research opportunities to its members.
Randy LaBonte holds a PhD in Leadership and Technology, which they obtained from The University of British Columbia between 1998 and 2005. Prior to that, they received a Masters of Educational Administration in Educational Leadership and Administration, General from the University of Victoria from 1985 to 1987. In addition to their degrees, Randy LaBonte also completed the ELI Online Seminar Graduate program on the Effectiveness of Faculty Development at EDUCAUSE in March 2014.
