Ian Hopkinson

Ian Hopkinson is an accomplished data science professional with a robust background in both research and data engineering. Currently, Ian serves as the Owner of Deva Data since February 2025, following a role as a Data Science and Engineering Consultant at the OCHA Centre for Humanitarian Data. Previous experience includes senior positions at GBG, where Ian contributed to the development of the Location Intelligence dataset for the GB MatchCode product, and ScraperWiki Ltd, focusing on customer data analysis and visualization. Ian's early career includes significant roles at Unilever, the University of Manchester, and the University of Cambridge, showcasing a blend of applied science and academic expertise in fields such as polymer physical chemistry and biological physics. Ian holds a PhD in Polymer Physical Chemistry from Durham University and a BSc (Hons) in Chemical Physics from the University of Bristol.
