Chris Hornby

Chris Hornby has a diverse work experience spanning from 1997 to the present. Their most recent role is as a Product CTO at DevFactory since May 2022. Prior to that, they worked as the VP of Technical Product Management at DevFactory from September 2020 to July 2022. Before joining DevFactory, Chris was the Chief Technology Officer for various startups, including Steele Athletic, where they worked from March 2015 to September 2020, and took business equity in return for technical oversight. Chris also worked at St Anne's Diocesan College South Africa as a Technical Consultant/Teacher from February 2015 to September 2020, where they introduced programming, robotics, and 3D design to the curriculum. Earlier in their career, Chris worked at Nortech International, Kingfisher, The Witness (Newspaper), Diani Marine, and The De Beers Group of Companies, holding various managerial and technical roles.

Chris Hornby earned a BSc Eng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 1996. In 2016, they obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika. From 2020 to 2022, Chris pursued a Master of Computer Science degree at the University of York. In 2021, they also obtained the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification from Amazon Web Services.
