Peter Gorniak

Peter Gorniak has a diverse range of work experience. Peter currently serves as the Head of Artificial Intelligence at DeviantArt, Inc. since September 2018. Peter previously worked as an Adjunct Professor and Assistant Professor at Simon Fraser University from 2013 until the end of 2014. Peter also co-founded Tideline Data, a full-stack data science consulting company, where they worked as a Co-Founder and Data Scientist from 2016 to 2018. Before that, they worked as a Data Scientist at DeviantArt, Inc. from 2014 to 2016. Peter also has experience in software engineering and artificial intelligence, with previous roles at DeviantArt, Inc., Rockstar Games, and Mad Doc Software. Peter spent time at MIT as a Postdoctoral Researcher in 2005 and as a Research Assistant and Ph.D. student at the MIT Media Lab from 2000 to 2005. Additionally, Peter worked as a Software Engineer and Team Leader at Glenayre Electronics before starting their Master's degree.

Peter Gorniak has a strong educational background in computer science and media arts and sciences. Peter earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from The University of British Columbia from 1993 to 1998. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Science at the same university from 1998 to 2000. Finally, they furthered their education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they completed their PhD in Media Arts and Sciences from 2000 to 2005.
