👉 Our mission
In light of the importance of maritime transport, yet the relative lack of academic research in France on ports, maritime logistics and their territorial impacts, DEVPORT brings together researchers from several laboratories and universities to address this gap and build a strong scientific and professional community.

📊 Our approach
DEVPORT adopts a firmly multidisciplinary approach, relying on a wide range of scientific methods and tools: statistical analyses, big data processing (notably through AIS data), field surveys, stakeholder interviews, advanced mapping, etc.

We have developed a Geographic Information System (GIS) that constitutes one of the pillars of this approach and allows us:

to analyze the spatial organization of logistics, accessibility, transport infrastructure, proximity between facilities, and the port hinterland;

to study port dynamics, maritime and land circulation, logistics clusters, and to assess the impact of port activities on territories.

🔎 Our research areas
CIRMAR: reconstruction of maritime routes based on AIS signals in order to analyze maritime freight flows.
PORTERR: assessment of the Normandy port system, with particular attention to small ports, their role, their complementarity with major ports, and environmental issues.
CLASSE: study of logistics corridors and the global freight transport chain in the Seine Valley, from large-scale logistics to urban logistics.

🤝 An academic and professional network
DEVPORT brings together researchers from diverse backgrounds (universities, research laboratories), promotes collaboration between academia and economic stakeholders, and is gradually developing its international dimension.
