Ali Athar

Ali Athar is an experienced R+D Engineer specializing in membrane process engineering at Dexcom since March 2014. In this role, Ali leads cross-functional teams to analyze how sensor membrane chemistry and manufacturing processes affect variability, utilizing Design of Experiments (DOE) to assess raw material parameters' impact on sensor performance. Previously, Ali worked as a Product Engineer at UC San Diego Bioengineering's Cabrales Lab, where innovative blood diagnostic solutions were designed, resulting in a patent application and published research in the IEEE Journal. Additional experience includes a Business Analyst Intern position at UC San Diego's von Liebig Center, where technical novelty and market feasibility of research proposals were evaluated, and a Student Research Assistant role in Stephen Mayfield's lab, focusing on metabolic pathway engineering in algae. Ali holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from UC San Diego and is Labview Certified.
