John Devlin serves as the Deputy Director of the European Neighbourhood Unit at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Ireland since February 2023. Previously, John held the position of Peacebuilding & Europe Lead on the UN Security Council Team at the Permanent Mission of Ireland to the United Nations from January 2021 to March 2023, and worked as a Second Secretary focusing on Disarmament and Peacebuilding from August 2019 to January 2021. John's experience also includes serving as Private Secretary to the Secretary General and Public Outreach Officer at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade from August 2016 to July 2019, along with roles such as Trade and Economic Affairs Assistant at the Embassy of Ireland in Paris and English Language Assistant at Académie de Paris. John began a professional career at Slieve Donard Resort and Spa as Conference and Banqueting Staff and also served as an Administrative Assistant at the Embassy of Ireland in Paris. John holds a B.A.(Hons) in European Studies with French and Spanish, Political Science and Government from Trinity College Dublin, alongside further studies at Ecole normale supérieure and Sciences Po.
