Michael Treacy

Michael Treacy is an experienced political and diplomatic professional currently serving as the Head of EU and Political Affairs at the Embassy of Ireland in Berlin since August 2024. Treacy's extensive background includes various roles within the Department of Foreign Affairs in Ireland, such as Deputy Director of the EU Policy I unit and positions in the European Neighbourhood and Council of Europe Presidency units. Previous experience includes serving as Vice Consul of Ireland to the Western United States and a Diplomat at the Embassy of Ireland in Malawi. Treacy has held roles as a Press Officer, Consular Officer, and Desk Officer within the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Engagement in political strategy and campaign work includes serving on Michael D Higgins's presidential campaign committee and as a Parliamentary Advisor for the Labour Party. Treacy holds a Master's degree in International Relations and Affairs from Dublin City University and a Bachelor's degree with distinction in English and Germanic Studies from Trinity College Dublin.
