Nigel Smart

Nigel Smart is a prominent cryptographer currently serving as a professor at COSIC, KU Leuven, and has been active in advising various companies in the cryptographic sector. Previously, Nigel was a professor at the University of Bristol, where they established a leading Cryptography and Security group. With a PhD in Pure Mathematics from the University of Kent, they co-founded multiple companies, including Unbound Security, which was acquired by Coinbase in 2022. From 2014 to 2016, Nigel held the position of Vice President of the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR), and in 2006, they served as Head of Computer Science at the University of Bristol. Nigel continues to focus on innovative cryptographic projects and the development of secure methodologies.
