Founded in 1996, DFW Pug Rescue is one of the largest pug rescue organizations in the United States. For nearly three decades, we have remained committed to one simple promise: No Pug Left Behind.

We rescue purebred and mixed pugs of all ages and medical conditions, providing comprehensive veterinary care and placing them into loving forever homes. Veterinary care is our single largest expense—over 94% of our funding goes directly to medical treatment, including exams, surgeries, medications, and long-term care. We spend an average of $35,000-$40,000 every month ensuring each pug has the chance to heal and thrive.

Each year, DFW Pug Rescue serves 400+ pugs, maintains 200+ foster and respite homes, and cares for 100-130 pugs in rescue at any given time, ultimately placing 330-350 dogs into approved adoptive homes. Upon intake, every pug is transported to a trusted veterinary partner in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. Many arrive with serious medical needs, including heartworm disease, tumors, orthopedic issues, malnutrition, mange, infections, and blindness.

We are a 100% volunteer-run 501c3 nonprofit with no physical shelter. Every rescued pug is cared for in a foster home, relying on the generosity and dedication of our community until a permanent home is found.

All pugs are fostered in DFW, and as of 2025, we proudly adopt to families across the lower 48 states. Through adoption, fostering, volunteering, monthly giving, and community partnerships, our supporters make life-saving work possible, one pug at a time.

Want to get involved (or hug a pug)? Join us at one of our many events and fundraisers throughout the year, or support our mission by fostering locally or becoming a Pug Warrior through monthly giving. https://www.dfwpugs.com/pug-warrior-program
