John Hammersley earned a PhD in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from Durham University in 2008. They co-founded Overleaf, the leading LaTeX-based collaborative writing platform, and served as its CEO until 2022, growing the user base to over 10 million. Previously, they worked as a Systems Research Scientist and Bid Manager at Ultra Global PRT, contributing to driverless taxi systems at Heathrow Airport. Currently, they are a VP of Researcher and Community Engagement at Digital Science, where they continue to support Overleaf and focus on enhancing research community engagement.
