Daniel Smith has had a varied and successful career in technology and software development. From 2014 to 2017, they were a Visiting Lecturer at Hebei Normal University in China, where they instructed translation majors in anticipation for the IELTS examination and offered oral English classes to university staff. In 2017, they joined DigitalMint as Technology Director, where they were responsible for owning and operating one of the largest networks of Bitcoin kiosks and point-of-sale solutions, with over 900 locations across 37 states nationwide. Daniel also served as Interim Director of Engineering, Technical Operations Lead, and Developer at DigitalMint. Additionally, in 2017, they joined DePaul Innovation Lab as Research Assistant and Web Developer, and Rightpoint as Internal Systems Intern.

Daniel Smith's education history includes a Master of Science (M.S.) in Business Intelligence from DePaul University, which they obtained between 2016 and 2018. In 2014, they obtained a Teaching English as a Foreign Language certification from Bridge Education Group, and in 2007, they obtained a Leave No Trace Master Educator certification from the Leave No Trace Center For Outdoor Ethics.
