Tate McDaniel

Tate McDaniel serves as the Director of Engineering at DigitalOcean since November 2021, previously holding the position of Senior Engineering Manager for Platform Engineering. Prior to DigitalOcean, Tate was the Tier 2 DBA Engineering Manager at Percona from June 2017 to November 2021. A work sabbatical was taken from January 2015 to April 2017, during which Tate managed a popular sailing and cruising blog and sailed around the Caribbean. Tate worked as the Senior Software Engineering Manager at VoterVoice from January 2005 to January 2015, overseeing IT team tasks during significant company growth. Tate started their career as a Database Consultant at Amedisys from October 2004 to January 2005, focusing on database design and regulatory automation. Tate holds a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology from Louisiana State University, obtained in 2005.
