Xian is a Research Associate at Dimagi who is primarily responsible for grant strategy/planning and development of proposals for Dimagi’s CommCare platform in US-based projects. Her current focus is on the development of NIH small business innovation research (SBIR) proposals.
Xian received both her BA and PhD from New York University in Psychology with a focus on cognition and perception, specifically the visual perception of material properties. She has since applied her skills and interest in the study of human behavior to the study of human interaction with healthcare technology. Just prior to working at Dimagi, she spent 6 years in Nashville as a research manager in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University and worked closely with multiple investigators and teams on a range of federally-funded health informatics projects, including the development and evaluation of mobile technology for medication adherence for adolescents with asthma and adaptation of AHRQ Type 2 diabetes guides for dissemination through a patient portal using a patient-centered approach. She specializes in a mixed methods approach to studying healthcare technology and usability and is excited about the opportunities of making healthcare accessible to all through mobile health innovation. Xian happily joined Dimagi in 2015 to help make a greater impact in healthcare both at home and abroad and enjoys burning the midnight oil to further those efforts.
