David Smiley

Tooling & Equipment Engineer at Dimensional Control Systems

David Smiley has a strong background in tooling and equipment engineering. David started their career at The Oakwood Group in 2000 as a Mold Department Leader, where they managed tool shop operations and executed mold builds and repairs. After that, they joined Castino as a Tooling Leader, responsible for managing and building new molds, as well as repairing existing molds. In 2011, David joined JCIM LLC as a Technical Manager, overseeing plastic injection mold tooling, process engineering, maintenance operations, and facilities. David also served as a Tooling & Maintenance Manager, managing the plastic injection mold tool room and leading engineering change projects. Later, they joined Yanfeng Automotive Interiors as a Tooling Advanced Manufacturing Engineer and eventually became the Facilities, Maintenance, and Tooling Manager. In these roles, they were responsible for managing tooling activities, process feasibility, tool design, tool prove out, part dimensional analysis, tool/equipment repairs, employee training, and budget management. Lastly, David is currently working at Dimensional Control Systems as a Tooling & Equipment Engineer.

David Smiley attended Henry Ford College, where they studied manufacturing. David did not obtain a specific degree from the institution. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including Problem Solving & Decision Making 8D from Kepner-Tregoe in 2022, Master Molder I from RJG, Inc. in 2016, and MODAPTS from JCIM LLC in 2014.
