DIMMS Lab (Disease-Informed Modelling, Methods & Systems Laboratory) is a research group at York University's Department of Mathematics and Statistics, led by Prof. Woldegeriel Assefa Woldegerima.

🔬 WHAT WE DO
Our interdisciplinary research integrates mathematical modeling, machine learning, and statistical analysis to tackle complex challenges in disease dynamics and public health.

📊 RESEARCH AREAS
- Disease Modeling – Mathematical frameworks for disease transmission dynamics
- Machine Learning – Disease-informed neural networks combining epidemiology with deep learning
- Statistical Analysis – Bayesian inference, MCMC methods, and spatial statistics
- Multi-scale Analysis – From molecular interactions to population-level dynamics
- Spatial Epidemiology – Geographical and socioeconomic factors in disease transmission
- Immunity Modeling – Immune response dynamics and host-pathogen interactions

🎓 OUR TEAM
Our diverse team includes faculty, postdoctoral researchers, PhD students, and visiting scholars working at the intersection of mathematics, biology, and data science.

📚 RECENT WORK
- Deep neural networks for predicting avian influenza spread
- Geographical distribution of Mpox in Ontario
- Risk factors associated with human Mpox infection
