Kate Johnston has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Kate is currently working as a Principal UX Specialist at DIRTT since June 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior UX Specialist at DIRTT from November 2021 to June 2023. Kate also has experience as a Human Factors Engineer / UX Researcher at General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada from July 2016 to November 2021. Kate has worked as a UX Researcher at Robots and Pencils from May 2014 to July 2016. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Graduate Student and Research Assistant at the Perception and Cognitive Aging Lab from September 2012 to May 2014, at the Cognitive Ergonomics Research Lab from September 2011 to May 2014, and at the W21C Research and Innovation Centre from September 2011 to May 2014. Kate also served as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Calgary from September 2011 to April 2013, and as a Research Assistant at the Driving Research in Virtual Environments (DRIVE) Lab from January 2010 to June 2011.
Kate Johnston received their Bachelor of Arts (BA) Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Guelph in 2011. Kate later pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Experimental Psychology, with a specialization in Applied Cognitive Psychology and Human Factors, at the University of Calgary from 2011 to 2013.
