Creative Development for Into the Outdoors Education Network at Discover Mediaworks

Ruby Conrad has a diverse work experience that spans various industries and roles. Ruby started their career in 2001 as a Whitewater Rafting Guide at Kern River Outfitters, where they worked until 2003. Ruby then became a Grade School Teacher at WHAP Scholastic Academy, where they designed individualized academic programs for 'at risk' children and developed curriculum. From 2004 to 2005, Ruby worked as an Editor and Associate Producer, contributing to projects such as the Disney Princess Kindergarten Math book for LeapPad Plus Writing and the Struggling Readers series for LeapFrog SchoolHouse LeapPad.

In 2005, Ruby joined Mike Young Entertainment/Discovery Kids as a Writer, Script Coordinator, and P.A., where they were involved in all areas of production for the Emmy Award-nominated Discovery Kids series "Growing Up Creepie." Ruby also worked on content development and production for BrainPopESL.com, an online educational interactive cartoon website, as a Writer and Producer from 2006 to 2007.

In 2008, Ruby created content for the story building website Skoodlez.com, writing 60 multiple-choice and choose-your-own-adventure stories for beginning readers. Ruby also led the development of an educational social networking start-up called Mooptroop.com, focusing on global cultural exchange and media literacy for children ages 8-12. From 2009 to 2013, Ruby worked as a Novelist, writing Western Historical Fictions and working on a screenplay adaptation.

From 2009 to 2015, Ruby worked at The Mother Company as a Writer and Developer of the Emmy Award-winning series "Ruby's Studio." Ruby developed and wrote 9 episodes of this preschool series, which had a magazine-style format and was narrated by Mel Brooks. Currently, Ruby works at Discover Mediaworks as Creative Development for Into the Outdoors Education Network. Ruby creates partnerships for the educational television series and online resources, looking to collaborate with national organizations to enhance critical thinking about environmental choices.

Ruby Conrad attended Edgewood Highschool from 1991 to 1995. In 1995, they enrolled in the University of Wisconsin-Madison and pursued a B.A. in Latin American Iberian Studies and Women's Studies, completing their degree in 1999. During their time at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Ruby also briefly studied at Pontifica Universidad Catolica in 1998, although they did not earn a degree or pursue a specific field of study during that time.
