Located in west central Texas, San Angelo is an oasis. 

Recently named the Visual Arts Capital of Texas, the city comes to life with visual arts, including the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, the Chicken Farm Arts Center, and the Pop Art Museum and Paintbrush Alley in Downtown San Angelo. 

Since 2019, San Angelo has been included in the Top 10 True Western Towns in the United States by True West Magazine. In 2019 and 2021, the city was #2 on the list. In 2020 and 2022, San Angelo has been named to the #1 spot. Established across the river from Historic Fort Concho, a fort that served as headquarters for the 4th and 10th Cavalry and 16th Infantry, the community has embraced its western heritage. The rich western heritage is still alive today.

The natural beauty of the city features the Concho River and the riverwalk, which includes four miles of walking trails through the middle of the community. Home to two reservoirs and Lake Nasworthy, San Angelo offers visitors and residents the ability to enjoy water sports. The International Waterlily Gardens were named the premier collection in the world by the International Waterlily Society. With a herd of bison and longhorns located at the San Angelo State Park, enjoy the more than 50 miles of walking and equestrian trails while you're there. 

As a Texas Music Friendly Community, the city is filled with live music almost every day of the week, featuring artists from the region and from across the country. Broadway shows and the San Angelo Symphony perform at the Murphey Performance Hall, a renovated hall from the 1920's.
