Patrick Maguire

SVP, Drama Development, ABC Studios at Disney

Patrick Maguire was named senior vice president, Drama Development at ABC Studios in September 2018. He reports to Jonnie Davis, president, ABC Studios. ABC Studios is a part of Disney Television Studios, a collection of studios comprised of 20th Century Fox Television, ABC Studios and Fox 21 Television Studios.

Maguire is responsible for the drama development slate of multiple high-profile ABC Studios writers and producers, including Michael Seitzman, Shondaland, Allan Heinberg and Erica Messer. In the last several years, he oversaw three pilots that were picked up to series including “Station 19” and “The Rookie.”

Previously, Maguire was vice president, Current Series, and oversaw the day-to-day creative direction of many successful drama and comedy series, including the critically acclaimed and Emmy® Award-winning series “American Crime” from Oscar® winner John Ridley, the worldwide mega-hit “Criminal Minds,” “Designated Survivor,” “Castle” and “Code Black,” as well as comedies “Cougar Town” and “Scrubs.”

Prior to joining Current Programming in 2010, Maguire held executive positions in Comedy Development at ABC Studios beginning in 2004. During his tenure, he oversaw development of dozens of half-hour comedy pilots and series. He began his tenure at The Walt Disney Company in 2002 in Comedy Development at ABC Network.

Prior to joining The Walt Disney Company, Maguire held an executive position in the creative department at J. Walter Thompson Advertising in Chicago where he managed campaigns for several Kraft Foods and Oscar Mayer brands.

Maguire received a bachelor’s degree from The University of Wisconsin-Madison.
