Bailey’s strategy of producing live-action re-imaginings of iconic Disney films may not be the most creatively challenging path for the studio, but it’s certainly lucrative, as evidenced by the grosses of recent releases such as “The Lion King” ($1.36 billion), “Aladdin” ($1.03 billion), “Beauty and the Beast” ($1.26 billion) and “The Jungle Book” ($966 million). Even the relative disappointment “Dumbo” managed to bring in more than $353 million worldwide.
