Dr. Mitchell completed his undergraduate studies at Rutgers University. He then attended the University of Southern California for graduate school in occupational health and safety before returning to the East Coast to attend Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Mitchell was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society in his junior year of training.
Dr. Mitchell completed his residency training at Denver Health and Hospitals where he served as chief resident and was selected as the most outstanding resident. Since the completion of his residency training in 2001, he has worked as an emergency physician in the Denver metropolitan area and has been the medical director in a busy level III and level II emergency department. He has also been actively involved in the training of medical students, nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
Over the last 10 years Dr. Mitchell has been an active member as well as chairman of both the Utilization Management and Patient Safety and Quality committees within his primary hospital. His focus throughout his education and career has been on patient safety and the delivery of quality, evidence based medicine.
