Matthew Egan has a strong background in software engineering, with experience spanning multiple roles and companies. Matthew is currently working as the Head of Engineering at Weel (previously DiviPay) since January 2022. In this role, they lead the engineering team and is responsible for the development and design of a scalable virtual card and expense management platform using Python/Django/DRF, ReactJS/ReactNative, and AWS.
Prior to their current role, Matthew served as an Engineering Team Lead at Weel from March 2021 to January 2022. Before that, they held the position of Senior Software Engineer at the same company from May 2018 to March 2021. In this role, they led the development and contributed to the validation and design of the platform, while also guiding product evolution, business/sales processes, and best practices for the development team.
Before joining Weel, Matthew worked at GalaBid as a Software Developer from July 2017 to May 2018. During their time there, they developed and maintained the flagship product, rebuilding a legacy system within 12 months and implementing APIs with Python and Django REST Framework. Matthew also worked on frontend UIs using AngularJS/Sass.
Matthew's career started at CrowdComms, where they served as a Junior Software Developer from February 2016 to July 2017. In this role, they focused on responsive web application development for silent auctions, conferences, and events. Matthew also worked on RESTful API development, performance optimization, web security, and implemented unit testing and continuous integration and deployment.

Matthew Egan attended Macarthur Anglican School from 2008 to 2013, where they completed their high school education. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science at UNSW from 2014 to 2017.
