Derek Vioen

Derek Vioen is an experienced drilling and well control professional with a diverse background in training and operational roles within the oil and gas industry. Currently serving as a Drilling & Well Control Assessor at Dixstone since June 2022, Derek leads competency assessments and performance coaching across multiple African operations. Prior roles include Drilling & Well Control Lead at Maersk Training, where Derek facilitated IWCF and IADC Subsea classes, and Commercial Training Manager at Caroil, responsible for developing and rolling out training services. Derek has also held positions as Technical Training Manager at Nabors Industries, Senior Well Control Instructor at Harness Energy, and various drilling roles, including Toolpusher with Weatherford and Directional Driller with Precision Drilling. Education includes attendance at Shawnigan Lake School and St. John’s School of Alberta.
