DJ School UK is a not-for-profit company, based in Leeds, with four clear aims:

1) Supply accessible, engaging and educational DJ and Music Production tuition, projects and workshops.

2) Use our activities to raise self-esteem and teach life-skills, especially to the hard to reach, disadvantaged or otherwise vulnerable.

3) Generate income from corporate and private customers to subsidise our services to young people who will benefit the most.

4) Raise the profile of our art form by formalising accreditation for DJs as musicians to levels equivalent to traditional instrumentalists.

Since the cost of living crisis we had to move out of our studio and only deliver in schools, colleges and youth organisations. Every crisis is an opportunity though and we took the opportunity to develop our offer of teacher training and CPD. We can now deliver online or face to face nationwide.

We are proud to boast that teachers across the UK are now confident enough to incorporate our culturally relevant and engaging art form in their curriculum delivery:

“I like the fact the videos are brief and don’t go over the same thing again and again- we can always watch them back again if needed. Also like how they’re not just ‘how to DJ’ videos, but explain how what we’re learning can be used to engage young people. Especially helpful for giving peri tutors ideas I think.” - Sunderland Music Hub

"The training was perfect; clear, engaging and well-suited to our needs. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and developed the skills and understanding we needed to be able to introduce DJing into our music departments." - Music for Bedford Borough.

“The team absolutely loved the session. I can definitely see us using DJing in our clubs and especially as a tool to engage young people in wellbeing support. The accessibility for young people makes it a really easy to use tool for building confidence and self-esteem.” - Lincoln YMCA
