Kai Bongs

Kai Bongs is the Director of the DLR Institute for Quantum Technologies and a Professor at Ulm University, where they lead in quantum technology research. They possess extensive experience in higher education, having served as the Chair of Quantum Matter at the University of Birmingham from 2007 to 2023, and directed the UK National Quantum Technology Hub in Sensors and Metrology. In addition, Bongs held roles focused on industry collaboration and innovation at the University of Birmingham and contributed valuable research at institutions including Yale University and the University of Hamburg. They earned their Ph.D. in Physics from Leibniz Universität Hannover and continue to serve as the Editor-in-Chief of EPJ Quantum Technologies.
