Kai Richter

Director of the Institute of Aerodynamics and Flow Technology

Kai Richter is the Director of the DLR Institute of Aerodynamics and Flow Technology and currently serves as a Professor for Aerodynamics at Technische Universität Braunschweig. Previously, they headed the Department of High Speed Configurations at Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V. from 2016 to 2024 and worked as a Research Scientist in aerodynamics for the same organization from 2003 to 2015. Kai’s research focused on unsteady helicopter rotor blade aerodynamics, collaborating with both industry and international research organizations. They hold a Dr.-Ing. degree from RWTH Aachen University, where they have been involved in academic pursuits since 2010.
