Michael Börner

Group leader Combustion Dynamics

Michael Börner is an R&D engineer and physicist with over 10 years of experience in space propulsion technologies. Currently, they serve as the Head of the Institute of Gas Turbines and Aerospace Propulsion and a Substitute Professor at TU Darmstadt, where they also lecture on space propulsion and supervising student projects. At the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt, Michael leads a team focused on combustion dynamics, particularly in cryogenic propulsion systems. They have actively contributed to various multinational research programs and have a strong commitment to teaching, mentoring future scientists and engineers. Michael completed their master's degree at GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research, specializing in laser-generated plasma.
