Michael Zu Hoerste is currently the Chief Engineer at DLR, a position held since 2001. They have served as a Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter at TU Braunschweig from 1995 to 2001. In addition to these roles, Michael is the Chairman of the Association ERTMS Accredited Labs (AEL) since 2012 and represents DLR on the Governing Board of Europe's Rail Joint Undertaking, starting in 2021.
