Paul Zabel is an In-Situ Resource Utilisation (ISRU) project lead and researcher currently serving as the Head of the Synergetic Material Utilization research group at Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V. Since 2012, Paul has worked with DLR, where they led work packages for the EDEN ISS project and operated a space greenhouse test facility in Antarctica. Prior to this, Paul completed a Ph.D. in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering at Technische Universität Dresden, following a Diplom in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution.
