Stefan Auer

Stefan Auer is the Head of the Department of Photogrammetry and Image Analysis at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), a role held since 2025. Auer is a geodesist specializing in remote sensing, having developed the synthetic aperture radar simulator RaySAR and focused on optical remote sensing, data fusion, and machine learning since joining DLR's Earth Observation Center in 2014. They earned a PhD in radar remote sensing from Technische Universität München and previously worked as a project manager and researcher at DLR, as well as a doctoral researcher at the TUM Chair of Remote Sensing Technology. Auer also contributes as a guest lecturer at the University of Osnabrück and the Technical University of Munich.
