Sven Baerwalde

Sven Baerwalde is a seasoned professional in the aerospace and research fields with extensive experience at Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V. and various academic institutions. From January 2004 to June 2006, Sven held multiple roles including Project Coordinator Cosmos Cologne and Research Associate and PhD Student. Between January 2018 and December 2021, Sven served as Department Head for Institute Development Space at DLR, and later took on roles at CQUniversity and La Trobe University as a Research Fellow and Associate Professor, respectively. Currently, Sven is a Research Scientist for Africa, Middle East, and Turkey at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), and also holds a Visiting Guest position at the University of Melbourne. Sven is pursuing a doctoral degree in Zoology at Universität zu Köln, completing studies that began in 2001.
